Architecture and urban planning have several relationships. They are similar in some aspects: Both employ the design to express ideas, they care about human needs and give purposes to interact with the environment. Also, space is considered like a “key factor” for the interaction between the human and the environment. However, they are different in some other subjects. Mainly, architecture is about modeling the space, and urban planning is about connecting places. But beyond the similarities and differences a building needs ways that get to it, and places need to find some building that guide them, that’s why architecture and urban planning are so familiar.
Caracas is a conflicted city like others in the world. But the principal problem is that architecture and urban planning are not working together. Some important buildings of Caracas were created for a design competition; there is no logic relation between them. Likewise, the principal roads, streets and avenues are at their fullest capacity, therefore they are not efficient. Caracas needs to find an organization in its architecture and urban planning to improve.
